The Japanese Pompadour is a head trait in the upcoming Party Polar Bears NFT collection

First introduced by Madame de Pompadour, mistress of King Louis XV of France, the Pompadour hairstyle was quickly adopted by other members of his court.

In more recent times, it was all the rage in post war Japan, with gang members of yakuza and the bōsōzoku, sporting it as a sign of rebellion against the established order. It has since made its way into Japanese pop culture, with anime characters such as Kazuma Kuwabara, Dandy, Josuke Higashikata, Mamoru Takamura and Sweet JP rocking the Pompadour.

A variation of the Pompadour has since been called the Elvis Cut after Elvis Presley popularized it in the western world. The Pompadour has also been in vogue with James Dean and Marlon Brando.

Our Party Polar Beart Pompadour head trait has been inspired by Kuwabara of the YuYu Hakusho manga fame.
